As an Architect … I solve problems.
I am a graduate of The University of Oregon, Master’s of Architecture Program and The University of Texas.
Spaces that serve a purpose, function well and adapt over time as usage changes: this is what inspires me. I truly enjoy physical problems that impact how we perceive and use space, light and materials. In my work as a Project Architect, I guide a team of talented individuals bringing together sets of documents. Keeping my team invested and inspired enriches project outcomes for our clients. I take pleasure in leading design collaborations across disciplines within my firm. Identifying the areas where boundaries overlap to provide unexpected connections is where I excel.
In the projects I work on we integrate sustainable practices to create enduring buildings that fit within the fabric of their environment. These are structures that utilize energy responsibly reducing long the term costs for society.
Swimmer
Each year I participate in a swimming event. Sometimes it is an open water event, such as the mile long Lake Del Valle Open Water swim (once I swam from Alcatraz) or other times to raise funds, such as for the Women’s Cancer Resource Center in Oakland, Ca. This year I participated in a swim-a-thon at the Embarcadero YMCA raising funds for their Youth Chance High School.
Avid Reader
In my book club of 22 years we explore a broad range of topics, including both fiction and non-fiction in our reading, frequently involving the insights of women’s issues across the centuries.
Family Life
I am married and live with my wife, Claudia, in our house in San Leandro, which proudly flies a pride flag. Her sister lives across the bay and we see each other often. My siblings are both on the east coast and we enjoy at least one yearly get-together.
