Experience
2016 thru to Present
SmithGroup, San Francisco, CA - Associate
Project Architect / Project Manager
I work with our clients Apple, UCSF and Valley Children’s Health and Hospitals from concept through completion on tech workplace environments, lab and research facilities, and medical clinics. Creating a positive working relationship with our clients I am reliable, listen to their needs, and communicate clear objectives back to my team. I foster collaboration between engineering disciplines and members of my design team by reaching consensus on schedule projections, organizing lines of communication and identifying project elements needing design resolution. My responsibilities include reporting project performance to leadership, specifically related to expenditures and staffing forecasts.
2013 thru 2016
Hibser Yamauchi Architects, Oakland, CA
Project Architect / Project Manager
At Hibser Yamauchi Architects I had the opportunity to manage projects from concept design through construction completion. By creating schedules, tracking budgets and creating a positive working relationship between our firm and our clients we were able to complete document sets on time and on budget consistently.
2013 thru 2015
City College of San Francisco
Adjunct Professor - Materials and Methods of Construction
Through this semester long course I provided an introductory overview of the physical properties and characteristics of building materials, common methods of commercial construction, as well as an introduction to building details.
2012 thru 2013
Kaiser Permanente, National Facilities Services (NFS), Oakland, CA
Staff Medical Architect + Planner
Working in the Facilities Planning and Design department, I facilitated the planning and design review process for NFS Project Managers. Research I completed, such as benchmarking room sizes in medical facilities built within the past 5 years, allowed me to support the planning & design of new medical departments & facilities. As a facilitator, I educated architects and design teams in the use of Kaiser Permanente's process improvement infoZone tools.
2006 thru 2011
Stantec Architects / Anshen + Allen, San Francisco, CA
Architect / Sustainability Lead
I participated on construction administration teams for projects ranging in size from a 64,000 sf building to a 1.2 million sf campus consisting of 9 buildings. My role frequently involved championing sustainability goals, such as documenting design and monitoring construction to meet project LEED certification.
2004 thru 2006
Ratcliff Architects, Emeryville, CA
Designer
As a designer I learned the logistics of bringing a design into reality. I helped to create digital plans based on architectural sketches, shepherded projects through city permitting processes and facilitated communication with consultants.
1998 thru 2001
ImproveNet.com, Redwood City, CA
Director of Operations / Process Design & Special Projects
As the 28th employee of this internet start-up, I helped take the company to three locations across the country as we grew to over two hundred and fifty people. It was at ImproveNet that I was able to integrate my creative abilities with business management in a fast paced environment.
